About Us

Dan - Born and raised in the Bay Area...

Dan grew up in the Bay Area and graduated with a B.A. from San Jose State University. He continues to live and work here and has seen many changes in the last few decades. He’s happy to be part of some of these changes, one garden at a time, using Bay Friendly techniques and the skills he learned becoming a Master Composter. Dan is a past president of the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board and currently is a member-at-large on Fremont's Environmental Sustainability Commission. He is also a regular contributor to the Tri City Voice's Home and Garden section.

Ann - Preserving all the good things I found here...

Ann graduated with a B.Sc. majoring in landscape design from UCD, Ireland and left for California soon after. An internship at the historic Filoli Gardens in Redwood City followed and she knew she loved the Bay Area. She stayed and believes in preserving all the good things we have here - the open spaces, the wildlife, the native plants, our water. She thinks that a well designed garden will respect its locale, be beautiful and most important of all: have somewhere to sit down. Ann is QWEL (Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper) certified and has participated in focus groups to update the California State Licensing Board's exams for landscape contractors. She is also the secretary on the board of our local environmental organization, the Tri City Ecology Center.
